Celebrate in style with this hoop-to-table embroidery project! Start a new tradition in your family with a birthday table topper. The Birthday Table Topper features nine charming quilt blocks setting the stage for any birthday celebration. Use the festive patches to customize the party for any birthday. The center block is quilted but left plain as it’s the spot for a birthday cake! The size is approximately 30” x 30”.
Included are the embroidery designs for 6”x10” and 10”x10” hoops, nine quilt blocks, twelve-monthly patches, ten number patches, and complete instructions. There are two sets of instructions based on your hoop size, so be sure and read through the instructions first.
For the 6”x10” hoop, the designs are split to accommodate the size of the hoop. You will simplify the process by quilting all the blocks first, then adding appliques and customizable embroidery designs to the quilted blocks.
Here are a couple of tips for stitching out the split designs and quilting designs: use Print & Stick Target Paper to print out the templates so you can easily line up the designs, and conserve fabric and batting by stitching blocks on a fabric/batting strip. Stitch the first block, and then stitch the second one by leaving at least 2” between the first and second block. Continue until you are finished or end of fabric. Repeat for adding the appliques and embroidery designs.
For the 10”x10” hoop, the designs will fit in the hoop. You will streamline by quilting the blocks and stitching the appliques and customizable embroidery designs at the same time. You will conserve fabric and batting by stitching blocks on a fabric/batting strip. Stitch the first block, which is the quilting and applique or quilting and embroidery design. Then stitch the second one by leaving at least 2” between the two. Continue until you are finished or end of fabric.
For both sizes, trim the blocks, piece the rows, and add the backing and binding. The last step is making patches – for birth months and days and adding to the quilt blocks.
