Favorite Hooping Tips

Our favorite hooping tips begin with using the Totally Tubular Hooping Station.  What is the Totally Tubular Hooping Station?  It holds a hoop in place while accurately positioning garments, fabrics, bags, totes, and more.  The non-slip surface, which is a hooping mat, provides a sturdy foundation for small to medium size hoops.  There are two sizes of boards, 8” x13” and 13” x 13”, that interlock together creating an elevated platform allowing tubular items to easily slip over the hoop.

Attaching the Perfect Alignment Laser 2 (PAL2) to the work surface of the Totally Tubular Hooping Station provides a laser crosshair beam for added hooping precision.  It is the perfect complement and another favorite hooping tip.

So, what hoops are best with the Totally Tubular Hooping Station?  That’s the beauty of using this hooping aid, as your regular embroidery hoops (those that came with your embroidery machine), Snap Hoop Monsters, and Sticky Hoops all work.

The Snap Hoop Monster size 8” x 8” fits well on the 13” x 13” work surface for hooping a center front design on a sweatshirt.  Print a template using the Print & Stick Target Paper, and adhere to the sweatshirt.  Using the PAL2 and template, line up the sweatshirt and place the top of the hoop in place.  Nest or bring the back of the sweatshirt up around the hoop (bring the sleeves inside out also).  Slide the corrugated board (packing material that came with the hoop) under the hoop and take to your embroidery machine.  So quick and easy!

Also, you can hoop a tote bag using the 8” x 8” Snap Hoop or a multi-needle machine hoop.  Of course, use the PAL2 and a preprinted template for added precision.

A 4” x 4” Snap Hoop Monster works well for hooping a baby onesie and small items on the 8” x 13” work surface.  Again, print a template using the Print & Stick Target Paper, and adhere to the baby onesie.  Using the PAL2 and template, line up the baby onesie and place the top of the hoop in place.  Nest or bring the back of the baby onesie around the hoop.  Slide the corrugated board under the hoop and take to your embroidery machine.  Also, helpful is adding a Hoop Guard.

The Sticky Hoop also works on the Totally Tubular Hooping Station along with the PAL2.

Here is an example of hooping a napkin with a monogram on a Sticky Hoop using the hooping station and PAL2.  Listen in as Eileen shares.
