The one thing I have is a chenille stitch foot. I have never made actual chenille with it. Do you use a special fabric? Or bias cut? And when you brush it to fluff it, how do you keep it from scratching the fabric you are attaching it to?

I would like to use the Bernina narrow hemming foot. Tried it on sheer skirt & ended up taking it to alteration person as I just couldn’t get it to work??

  • Elizabeth_T

I’ve never been able to get my Ruffler (Bernina foot no. 86)to work properly.

    • Belinda germain

When I was doing ruffling for a set of curtains, the ruffle was a double layer of fabric, I fought with it for awhile then realized the machine was ruffling only the top layer causing everything to bunch up and not work properly. I found that the ruffling foot worked better if I baste stitched the two layers together then ruffled them, worked like a charm.

I have all the feet for the new Babylock Ovation, so far I have only used the standard foot, the binder fott and the belt loop foot (that was fun!). I still need to learn about all the others, especially the blind hem foot and the elastic foot. So excited to try these all out!

  • Barbara KRatz

I have an elastic foot I wish I new how to use.

  • Kristi D.

I have a funny looking foot for my BabyLock Ellisimo that I have no clue what it is for. That is what I would like to learn how to use. Plus all the cool stuff that I don’t even have a clue about.

  • Cathy

Would like to know how to use the blind hem foot. Would be great to be able to hem on the machine. Thanks for all your useful information.

  • Patty

#69.. The roll hem foot. I bought it thinking I could put a narrow hem on a sheer fabric but it got the best of me!

  • Cindy Carson

I have the Babylock Ellisimo too. I love the 1/4″ edge for piecing quilts, but would like to learn how to put pipping on well with the correct foot.

  • Terry P

    The binding foot. Too afraid.

  • Cindy Carson

Piping! I mean piping, not pipping!

  • Barb Miller

I would like to make curtains for my granddaughters room. Or a wall hanging for my laundry room.

  • Patty

I have many problems with the ruffling foot. I can’t belive how hard it is to work with! Is there an easier way to do this?

  • Nancy Drake

I would like to learn to use the binding foot on my serger so I can do Little Dresses for Africa faster.

    • Jane Jarvis

That’s the best reason for using that foot

  • carolyn goodworth

I have a new Ovation Serger and I don’t know how to use the blind hem foot. There are several others that are a little scary-looking!

  • Colleen Bunner

    Binding foot

  • Barbara Ann

I would like to know how to use the ruffler foot for my Singer 221K Featherweight and ruffler foot for my Babylock serger. And if there’s a foot to make pleats, that too! (Or is that the ruffler foot?)

  • Barb Grant

Funny you mention the Bernina sideways foot. Just today I was thinking I would ask my dealer to demonstrate how it’s used and what it’s for.

  • Colleen Bell

I so much agree with Kristi D. I have an Ellisimo Gold with a funny foot and don’t have a clue how it is used. I just love embroidering so much, that I just don’t sew or investigate what is in my tool box as much as I should.

Oh, I do love these “Closer Looks.” I even take the time to show them to my geeky adult sons when they come over. They are all impressed with the technology.

  • Pam

The roll hem foot when hemming a dress.

  • Gail Beam

I would like to learn how to use the bias binder foot, the blind hem foot, the elastic foot, and the ruffler foot. I am a foot junkie and have a lot of feet lol that I have never used. I love the walking foot, the piping foot, the roller foot, and the sequin foot.

  • Carolyn H

Would like to know how Foot 2A works. Also the ruffler. I have to do lots of samples before I can get what I want.

  • Cindy

I have the Baby Lock Ellisimo II and it came with two walking feet. How do you know which one to use. I can’t find where it says to use different ones.

  • Amy Anson

In principle, I know how the rolled hem foot works but in reality, I can’t seem to get the hang of it in order to achieve a beautiful finished edge. I would sew appreciate any helpful hints.

  • Beth R

The flat felled foot – want to do the ‘jeans’ seams, but for some reason just haven’t mastered the foot.

  • Donna G.

The Ruffler! It’s an intimidating foot!

  • Sharon B

The gathering foot. I can imagine all kinds of creative things but I would like some creative ideas.

  • Mary Haggenmaker

Been around a Looonnngg time. Pretty much have learned to use all my feet. Practice makes …maybe not perfect there is always more that can be learned.

  • Kristal

The blind hem foot is something I would like to learn…eventually.
    Seems daunting right now.

  • Madeline Lester

I would love to know how to judge the amount of fabric needed to use the ruffling foot. I don’t get how the ruffled or pleating works. How much fabric makes how much ruffle or pleating? It’s very confusing to use.
    Madeline

  • Lynn

I have yet to master the rolled hem foot!

  • Shirl R

I would like some hints on using the rolled hem foot effectively.

  • Julie

I bought a commercial blindstitch hemmer online and have never dared to use it….that curved needle is too daunting!

  • Dale Fedor

I can’t figure out how to put the fabric where on my ruffler foot.

  • karen

I would like to learn how to get better results with the rolled hem foot.

  • susan james

the narrow hemming foot. just cannot get the hang of it.

  • Pamela Pope

I for sure would love to see a good video or tutorial about the 40C foot. I had it with my previous machine and a lot of templates came with it but nobody could really help me to figure it out. My attempts were not very nice looking!

  • Kim

    the rolled hem foot

  • Linda Lee

I have trouble with the rolled hem foot on my Janome 15000 and want to better know how to use it properly and I really want to learn how to use the flower foot on my Singer One Plus. Oh – I also want to learn how to properly use a walking foot…Yikes – I think I need a foot course!

  • Annette Danos

I would love to learn how to use the ruffler attachment. I sew a lot of shorts with a ruffle on the hem. This would make it so much simpler. I have bought a ruffler but can’t seem to keep a straight seam, either top or bottom is always off. This attachment is getting the better of me. There is no instructions on how to use it when you buy the attachment.

  • Dianna B

I would love a video on how to work the Bernina darning and free
motion embroidery foot #9/24. It seems so easy and then when I
    try…..not so much!

  • Shelor

I have the very expensive binding attachment for my Bernina, but I do not know how to use it properly. Wish I did. Of course, I really ought to spend some time practicing! 🙂

  • Angie Valentine

I would love to know how to use my elastic foot for my Juki serger

  • Donna Fecteau

I would like to use my free motion foot. Have been afraid to try it.

  • maria elena blecha

The roll hem foot, I start out o.k. then it starts to “chew” the fabric!! It would be sew neat to make hems on the sheer fabric with this foot!!!

  • Brenda Melahn

My biggest mystery is my ruffler foot — used it once … couldn’t now if my life depended on it.

  • Rrrose

My bias tape foot has me in a dither! Complicated. Frustrating. Don’t get me started.

  • Sharon

I bought a set of 30 feet from Amazon two months ago and would love to learn how to use all of them skillfully, but the two that have me most intrigued are the Ruffler and the Binding feet. I have watched YouTube videos for both, but can’t quite bring myself to try anything yet.

  • Frances Powell

I have trouble with the hemmer foot. When I try to practice, the fabric will roll under right for a short time and then it flattens out. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I know if I could use it properly, then I could save a lot of time. Thanks.

  • Barbara McKenzie

I have given up on the rolled hem foot – I think you must need to have the “perfect” fabric to make it work. Either that, or I’m just too impatient….

  • Joan Luiz

There is a little book by Christine Phillips – “The Sewing Machine Attachment Handbook” – that has good instructions for the ruffler attachment. Clear pictures for each fabric path and how to adjust the ruffler. Lots of history of sewing machines and how to use those odd looking feet. This is where I learned how to use my ruffler. It does take practice to be able to control the fabric feeding into the ruffler.

  • AudieSue

I have a BabyLoc Imagine serger with all the feet but I am too intimidated to try them out. I would like to learn about all the feet but would settle for the elastic foot and the blind hem foot.

  • Dianna

I would like to know how to use the Bernina 830 binding foot, the ruffle, and the hemming feet. I want to make some gifts with those feet but don’t know how to use them.

  • Kathy

I bought the circular foot and would like to learn how to use it.

  • Karen

The elastic foot. I use the rolled hem foot all the time you need the right tension on the fabric. I have also found I do not sit right in front of the machine with that foot.

  • Alice Cornelson

I’d like to learn more about the sideways walking foot, however, the one that stumps me the most is the run/fell foot, Bernina #71. If I could master that bad boy, then I could rip up the legs of my jeans and embroider some neat stuff up the leg. Thanks, Alice

  • JudiC

I have a Bernina Binder foot that I keep trying & it never works for me BUT I am even more curious about how to use a “Flower Stitch” foot that I have had for several years. It is a very big & strange looking foot.

  • Krishna

Hello. Great job. I did not imagine this. This is a remarkable story. Thanks!

  • Jacqui

My serger feet. I bought the extra feet but do not know how to use them.

  • Sue kirk

I need more instruction on my walking foot. Is it only for quilting?

  • LeAnne L

I have a binding foot I can’t figure out how to use.

  • Barbara

Gee, I wish I knew where to start! Between my sewing machine and serger, there are so many adventures afoot that I can’t begin to choose! How about the ones that came with the last update?

  • Mary Frances Horton

The Bernina website has videos on so many different feet. Also check Bernina Feet on You Tube.

  • beth daniels

I have two Janome feet that I need to know how to use. One is a 1/4″ foot to use with my quilting and I still have not learned to use it, but I will someday.

  • Eileen Ryan

My walking foot sits in it’s box. I would love to know when I should use it.

  • Beverly Jefferies Vance

    The ruffler foot!

  • Dawn Duke

The book by Barbara Goldkorn “Cutting Edge Serger Techniques” looks interesting, so I put in an order on DIME. Please cancel it, as I refuse to nearly double the price with the shipping. I will look for it, when and if it shows up in book stores in Canada. We do have access to Designs Magazine, so I figure the book will show up too. Thanks Dawn

    The Bernina Spanish Hem foot

  • Connie Walsh

I would like to master the trick to using the belt loop binder on my babylock evolution. I watched a babylock representative use one at a sewing event a few years ago and it looked so easy but after I purchased it and tried it at home, I just couldn’t get it to do a good job.

  • Irma

I would like to know how to use my Side cutter ‘S’foot on my new Brother 1250 D

  • Doreen

I would like to know more about the braiding foot.

  • Victorina Sivret

Valuable info. Lucky me I found your site by accident, and I’m shocked why this accident did not happened earlier! I bookmarked it.
