The Gift Tags are rolling in!

We’ve recieved some creative entries for the Brother Machine Give-Away!  It’s not to late to send in your gift tag.

Gail B. sent in her set of tags she made.  “I made 4 gift tags. For the Emma and Dad tags I used a piece of white felt with a piece of window screen on top of the felt. Metallic thread was used for part of the names and trees. The lettering for Dad and Emma is from my Husqvarna vip 3D software program. After stitching out the tag, I used my pinking sheers to edge the outside. Trim was then sewn on to the outside edge of one tag and along the inside edge of the other tag, leaving the satin outline on the tag to show. The Jack and Jake tags were sewn out on white and red fleece. I stitched the tree out first on the white fleece. A piece of silver mylar was placed under the trees before stitching. Green metallic thread was used for one tree and gold metallic thread was used for the other tree, with a touch of brown thread. After stitching out the tree, I tore the extra mylar away from the tree. The names Jack and Jake were sewn out using letters from my Husqvarna vip 3d software. A piece of red fleece was placed under the hoop and the tags were then sewn out. I left about 2 inches around three of the sides and cut strips up to the satin tag outline and then tied the strips like you would for a fleece blanket. Gold cording, green wire ribbon, and metallic pipe cleaners were used as ties.”

Here’s an entry from Cynthia C.  “I call my gift tag The Fall Giving Tree. I was inspired, in part, by Alba Fekete’s pocket ornaments in Designs in Machine Embroidery, Nov./Dec. 2010. I made the tag, using scraps of denim fabric.

In my embroidery software, I turned the design and added a satin-stitch border. I also digitized two apples that have fallen from the Giving Tree. I then sprinkled little pieces of fall-colored fabrics onto my denim fabric, before stitching out the tree design. On the back of the gift tag is a pocket where you can place a note, a gift card, money.”

Yollande N. sent in this gift tag.  “I got right to it – I had fun with it – I added bling like you suggested and even went as far as to not embroider the last thread color because I wanted to make it my own – I added some gold flex here and there with a little glue — used my picking sheers to embellish the edges – added matching ribbon through a grommet and small bell – (tried to make it a little 3-dimensional).”

Diane K. sent us this tag and added some amazing freestanding lace!  “I added freestanding lace leaves to my gift tag to embellish it further and emphasize the beauty of fall – my favorite season of the year. The tag is embroidered on cotton fabric printed with tiny stems and leaves and uses the colors of fall. I hope you enjoy it.”

Susan W. sent us this gift tag.  “This gift tag was inspired by the way our Trees look now in Texas.”

Here’s an entry from Carol Y.  “The gift tag I made was made on felt using silver and blue thread. I love decorating at Christmas with these colors.”

Joan G. sent us this gift tag.  “My first thought upon seeing the tree design was creating a gift tag for a special, furry member of our family. We inherited Chipper when his owner passed away. We hope we have given him as much love as his previous owner because he has certainly filled our lives with love and happiness.”

Wow! We’ve received some wonderful entries so far! If you haven’t sent in your gift tag…you have until November 23rd to email us your entry. And remember—you can make the gift tag out of scrapbook paper. Show us your creativity and you may win the Brother SE-400 embroidery/sewing machine! Good luck!

At the beginning of the year I pick one new project that I am excited about and promise myself this will be the only new project until all of my old projects are finished. (never happens) but it gives me the incentive to clean my space and start a new year.
