To all of us, Nancy Zieman was an industry icon but to her granddaughters, she was Grandma.
Nancy loved hanging out with all of her granddaughters. Sometimes she would sew with Avery and Luella (the older granddaughters) but often they would bake. Playing in the kitchen with Grandma is something every child wants to do. Nancy Zieman’s children were no different. Nancy enjoyed not only baking in the kitchen but also playing on the computer with her granddaughters while they decorated cupcakes and other bakery items in a popular software program. She marveled at how engaged her granddaughters were, how they intuitively knew what buttons to click and how pleased they were with their creations.
She really wanted to experience something similar with them for sewing. She shared this desire with me in early 2017. I listened to her thoughts and then explained the possibilities that we could make happen here at dime. After Nancy and I defined what we wanted the software to do, the dime software development team jumped into action. They understood our goal of creating a one-of-a-kind software program that children and adults could enjoy.
Nancy and I knew that kids would jump right into this program because they love technology. To them, it’s a natural first step in the sewing process. Create the fabric, print the pattern and move to the sewing machine! That’s what Click, Print & Stitch does.
Imagine what fun it would be to help a youngster design an outfit for an 18” doll. They can make capris, a skirt, sundress, top and skirt. Of course, they can personalize the fabric by drawing their own embellishments like dots, diamonds, squares, hearts and more. Unlimited color choices are just a click away or they can choose from a built-in repeatable pattern.
Kids love the cat and dog pillows. Here we show a purple cat but this kitty could be any color under the rainbow.
Our blue dog is a big hit with everyone. In just three simple steps, the project is complete!
Click, Print & Stitch is just one element of Nancy Zieman’s I Sew for Fun line of youngster-friendly sewing notions, a child’s book, Amazing Design embroidery collection and more. This new line of products ensures Nancy’s legacy of making sewing easy is passed down to the next generation. I’m looking forward to using all of these products with my 5-year old grand daughter – lots of memories in the making!
What project would you like to do with a youngster? Share your thoughts below and one random winner will receive a copy of Nancy Zieman’s I Sew For Fun Click, Print and Stitch software program.

7 years agoWow! What a great product! Nancy was amazing! Her idea and your (DIME) resources have come up with a product that not only am I am excited about, but parents and grandparents can all be excited about. We can use this fun tool to help teach daughters and granddaughters about sewing using kid friendly technology while making neat things they will be proud of. I can’t wait to get Click, Print, and Stitch and sew with my girls.
We are looking forward to seeing what else may come in the “I Sew For Fun” line.

7 years agoI have a toddler granddaughter and one soon to be born. These innovations will be fun. Last Christmas I worked with a grandson on presents; he made six stocking caps and was pretty pleased. I can envision him using this to make presents. Thanks!

7 years agoNancy was such an amazing woman. I have long admired her grace and determination in fighting her many health issues. The face she showed was still one of happiness and determination in teaching the talents she and many others shared, while fighting these issues in the background. I am not sure I could do the same under the same circumstances. May she rest in peace.
I am so excited to see Click, Print and Stitch! I have an 11 year old mildly autistic granddaughter, who is difficult to find something that holds her interest for long. Surprisingly, she has indicated an interest in sewing. I would like to use Click, Print and Stitch to see if she could create a personalized book bag for school…

7 years agoI learned to sew watching “Sewing with Nancy”. First I sewed for myself, then my children and now I’m teaching my granddaughters. I always recommend her books and programs to new sewists. Two years ago, I ventured into machine embroidery, introduced to you by one of Nancy’s programs. I will miss her calm demeanor and encouraging spirit. What a beautiful legacy she has left for us and future generations as well!

7 years agoSo much fun. One of my granddaughters has asked to make a doll quilt with me over the Christmas holidays. Wouldn’t it be fun to use this software to not only make the quilt but dress the doll in matching pajamas.

7 years agoNancy and you have come up with a fantastic product. This product would provided an opportunity to spend time with my granddaughter and pass on something that I enjoy doing. I have made her a quilt, so she knows the process. . I think this would give my granddaughter a good understanding of the sewing process and use something that she designs and makes. I should have spent time with my Grandmother and learned how to make her Dutch cookies.
Nancy will be missed by her grandchildren and the public.

7 years agoNancy had great visions for our sewing world. And I believe that we cross those paths to carry on that vision. You have taken that journey with her and now will carry her visions forward. Great product to give to our young artist who loves to sew. RIP Nancy.

7 years agoMy grandchildren live on opposite coasts — and I’m in the middle. This is the perfect experience for me to share with them from afar. I want to be able to teach them to create something of their own — where is the crossover bag they can design and embellish?

7 years agoI have learned so much from Nancy. And no matter how long you’ve been at a machine, you can learn something new everyday! When my older grandson (now 12) was younger he use to sit on my lap and watch me sew. His brother (10)is interested in making a pillow case for his dad for camping. Now that I’ve been blessed with a granddaughter (2 1/2) she helps pick out fabric for upcoming projects by the expression on her face! Share the craft. It just doesn’t get any better!

7 years agoOh thank you to a wonderful lady, what an early Christmas present she has given us all. We are presently missionaries in Japan and hope to return to South Africa early in the new year to run a hostel for a ballet school. Many of these children are from underprivileged families and besides teaching my granddaughters I think it would be such an opportunity to share and teach these other little kiddies who would never otherwise have the opportunity to learn our hobby or trade ,I am sure it would set them up for life.My mind is spinning, I am so happy to have a goal to work towards.Thank you too to Eileen for for all your hard work and wonderful ideas. You are pushing us all to use our onknown abilities!!! Happy Christmas and Blessings to you and all your family and staff.

7 years agoI am heartbroken at the loss of Nancy. I just can’t imagine the sewing world without her. I have no grandchildren, but still benefit from Nancy’s older shows. It is so sad there will be no more. I hope her family realizes the HUGE impact she had on so many of us.
