The entire community used to come together whenever the needle plate on an embroidery machine needed to be removed. Together, they’d carefully hoist a giant screwdriver. Not only was it heavy, but it was tricky and nearly impossible to maneuver in a small space.
Then the community discovered the Stitcher’s Hardware, a handy tool set created by Designs in Machine Embroidery. The tools were lightweight, small and very easy to maneuver around tiny spaces. Now the community has more time to do what they love! (Embroider, of course!)
The Stitcher’s Hardware Kit includes:
- A screwdriver with a bulb-shaped handle and tubular guide for removing and inserting the needle screw or presser foot screw.
- A flat head screwdriver that easily removes flush mount screws—often found on the needle plate.
- An extended flat tip screwdriver that easily removes countersunk screws—found on some needle plates.
- A Phillips-head screwdriver designed to maneuver hard to reach areas.
Plus a convenient storage case!

11 years agoDenise . . . you have me grinning from ear to ear and giggling too! You are too, too much!
Love your post and love the Stitcher’s Hardware kit too! The bright yellow case is in the top drawer of my sewing caddy, ready to reach for at a moment’s notice. The color coordinated case is great for storing the tools, that is when tiny Joe and his friends remember to put them back where they belong. A place for everything and everything in its . . . well let’s not go there. I like the fact that the bright yellow handles on the tools themselves are easy to find in the midst of my creative chaos 🙂

11 years agoI was excited to get the Stitcher’s hardware kit, then life got in the way and I didn’t have time for crafting. When I got back to it and went to use the extended flat tip screwdriver the tip turned out to be much larger than the slot in the head of the screw. =( I love the idea of that screwdriver and was really sad it didn’t work for me. So the kit will live in my regular toolkit instead of my sewing one.

11 years agoI purchased this kit, really looking forward to it, but
returned it.
Nice set of tools, but, THE HANDLES WERE SLIPPERY AND I COULD NOT GET A GOOD GRIP FOR USING THEM.
A better material with grip for the handles would be
a GREAT IMPROVEMENT…..

11 years agoI am confused… My sewing machines all came with beautiful little screwdrivers that did the job very well. Why haven’t the manufacturer of your embroidery machine done the same??
