12 years agoI have made some embroidered napkins for the spring and used them. For this holiday season – I did embroider a couple of ecru hemstitched linen table runners. The designs are from Embroidery Library. One has three designs that I merged together and flipped one design. The other one has 2 designs that I merged together. 12 years agoI LOVE doing napkins for each holiday as I am the one that hosts each (as I have older relatives). I have done Easter Bunny & Eggs for Easter, Flip-Flop and summer drink ones with coordinating place mats for summer, Leaf napkins and a Thanksgiving table runner, and 2 different Christmas sets, with a Christmas table runner to coordinate. Also, embroidered crosses on 12 for use at our church during Mass. Next project is wine colored napkins to do in wine theme to go with some placemats. Love how quick & easy they are and add so much.

12 years agoI haven’t done them yet, but a friend of mine gave me the idea to stitch unique designs on each person’s holiday napkin, and then send them home as a gift! Since there will be mostly couples, I’m going to find some designs that work in pairs.

12 years agoI am going to do The Quilt Company’s Easy Striped Table Runner with Debbie Mumn’s Great Harvest material, quilting it with Multicolor quilting thread containing the same shades of orange, brown, avacado, and gold as in the fabric. Embroidered napkins and tea towels, as well as FSL Xmas decorations for others are on my to-do list. Would surely love to win the Perfect Placement Kit, which would make my work much easier!

12 years agoI plan to embroider the plain napkins I bought last Christmas. I didn’t even think of it till the other day looking at some holiday magazines and admiring the tablescapes. I never embroider anything for myself.

12 years agoI love embroidering on napkins. My family is very musical so I have digitized a design that includes both the treble and base clef. I usually stitch it in black thread on a white napkin. It is a hit!

12 years agoI embroidered different Christmas motifs on green napkins to go with my tablecloth next month. They are all different on purpose so that everyone has something unique. I have a set of gold napkins that I use for Thanksgiving and wish that I had thought ahead to embroider them for next week.

12 years agoSince I often have to lave my lunch on the run, I made a holiday-themed in the hoop lunch tote. It makes my little meal seem so much more festive!

12 years agoHow about a tablecloth? A friend of mine was given a tablecloth as a wedding present many years ago. After Thanksgiving dinner each year, newcomers to her table are asked to sign their name in pencil on the tablecloth. When the guests are gone, she hand embroiders their signature in red thread using their pencil signature as a guide. (sometimes the guests add a fun little drawing to their signature.) The signatures from the past really bring back the memories of all of her friends and loved ones. It’s a wonderful way to remember all the delightful dinners we’ve shared.

12 years agoI’m working on holiday napkins and table runners for my family members. First I added embroidery to the napkins I had on hand for next month. Then I purchased a couple of large tablecloths (on sale) that I will cut up and embroider as needed for each person to match their taste and home decor.

12 years agoMy niece loves to go to tea and to have friends over for fancy teas, so I made her a set of linen napkins with an embroidered Victorian teapot. I was going to add a monogram but was worried about getting the perfect placement in relation to the teapot. Hope I win. I could really use the Perfect Placement Kit for my own set of napkins!

12 years agoMy sis-in-law just finished remodeling her kitchen and so, thought I would make her a basket of towels, kitchen mitts and of some napkins. Bought some blanks on sale at Kohl’s now just need to get the right designs.

12 years agoI am embarrassed to say that I don’t have one embroidered napkin!!! I’ve lost count of how many I’ve done and given away. I have stacks of them in the closet for me but I never seem to take time to make them!! Another thing to put on my 2012 “to do” list. Eileen, I hope you and your family have a Wonderful Thanksgiving.

12 years agoI stitched some Thanksgiving napkins for a friend using a design with Indian feathers, pilgrim hat and fall leaves. I placed the design in the corner of each napkin and they turned out beautiful. I am going to stitch a small Christmas tree on napkins for my family. Now, I’m in the process of making a tree skirt.

12 years agoI’m trying to get into the spirit looking at your magazine and your face book page does help..I have plane napkins and I’m going to try to put the OMA”S Place give Thanks on 12 napkins..just saying a lot prayers to get my husband and myself and our family through our first holiday without our son..prayers are diffidently welcome. I’ve looked at the prefect placement for a long time and feel it’s an asset for any sewing room..Thank You for all the hard work all year long..Hope your Thanksgiving is warm and happy and full of family and friends and prayers.

12 years agoI am the cook so I made myself kitchen towels and an apron with the turkey design from Anita Goodesign’s Holiday tea towels, they turned out so cute I am actually looking forward to wearing that apron and having my guest help with the dishes afterwards (I hope).

12 years agoHmm, guess I am right up there with mostly thinking of gifts for others. I made a very long table runner out of fabric with “tablecloth” squares, used a variety of single color thanksgiving/fall embroidery designs, and edged the entire thing in a fall print fabric I made into bias binding. I love the feeling of creating something and being able to enjoy it with my family.

12 years agoI monogrammed my Christmas table linens with embroidery. For my red damask tablecloth, I made a bright white “G” and for my white damask napkins, I used a very bright red “G.” It was pretty easy and they came out gorgeous!

12 years agoI also make many gifts for others, but I do make table linens for myself. I like to make tablerunners and placemats with matching napkins, and just made a set for Christmas. It seems like the food always tastes better when served with pretty napkins and mats (or am I just hoping that’s the case?)!
